Scientific understanding of historical events is an urgent need of modern Ukrainian society. KSPU scientists are working hard on topical research on important issues of the historical path of our country. On September 21, 2021, in the reading room of main building took place an extraordinary event of scientific life – a presentation of publications of the Holodomor Research Institute and a collection of documents “Голодомор – геноцид 1932-1933 рр. у Дніпропетровській області: масштаби, наслідки».

     The compiler of these publications is Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of Department of History, N.R. Romanets, who presented books to students – future historians studying at the Faculty of Geography, Tourism and History, as well as students of the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and the Faculty of Foreign Languages.

     The scientist presented the books she donated to the library of KSPU: “Геноцид українців 1932-1933 за матеріалам досудових розслідувань” (compilers – O. Petryshyn, M. Herasymenko, O. Stasiuk), a collection of documents “Голодомор – геноцид 1932-1933 рр. у Дніпропетровській області: масштаби, наслідки” (compiler N. Romanets), “Нариси про голодомор” by Olesia Stasiuk, general director of the National Museum of the Holodomor-Genocide and the monograph “Коли той світанок настане?” by Ukrainian researchers Svitlana Markova and Inna Shuhalova. Director of the library, Assoc. Prof. H. M. Viniar thanked the researcher and invited her to speak.

     Prof. Romanets told about the work of historians in collecting, analyzing, and arranging of primary sources, archival documents, about the titanic work of scientists in order to create a modern Ukrainian historiography. Natalia Radomyrivna highlighted the content, structure, uniqueness of the collection of documents and encouraged students to more actively use archival sources and scientific results of professional historians.

     N.R. Romanets highlighted (translated): “It is the documents that help us to understand what really happened in those years. The publications available in the library of our university from today, will be useful not only for specialists, but also for everyone who cares about the history of Ukraine”.

     Information support of the presentation was provided by specialists of the information and bibliographic department and the library service department – head of information and bibliographic department O.A. Dikunova, chief bibliographer S.O. Kocherha and librarian O.V. Prysiazhna, who prepared a thematic review “Holodomor. Genocide. We remember”.
