From September 23 to 27, 2024, a group of faculty members from the Department of Practical Psychology of Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University (KSPU), consisting of Assoc. Prof. O. Charkina, Assoc. Prof. O. Shestopalova, and Prof. Z. Miroshnyk, participated in an educational visit organized by the Faculty of Education and Psychology of the University of Latvia within the framework of the Erasmus+ KA project "Enhancing Psychological Resilience and Well-Being in (Post)War Ukraine" (BURN). This project plays a crucial role in the development of psychological resilience and mental health in Ukraine, especially in the context of post-war recovery.

Day 1: Warm Welcome and Fascinating Tours
The visit began at the main building of the University of Latvia, located in the heart of Old Riga, opposite the National Opera House. During the tour, the scholars visited the astronomical observatory, the prison for unruly students, and a Vincent van Gogh-style museum exhibition created by Ukrainian artists.

Following this, Ms. Laura Pirsko introduced the group to the history of the development of Latvia’s psychological service and the implementation of the 2018 Psychologists Act. Psychological education in Latvia follows a multi-level structure, with over six years of study required, including a probationary period before certification. Additionally, the stages of supervisor training were presented, which take no less than 13-15 years of continuous learning and practice.

Day 2: Immersion in Educational Spaces
The second day was dedicated to exploring the "House of Nature", an innovative eight-story building housing the faculties of natural and geographical sciences. The group was impressed by the modern laboratories, comfortable student areas, and ergonomic solutions. Later, they visited the "House of Science", home to the medical, physics-mathematics, and information technology faculties. Particular attention was drawn to the 24/7 library access, comfortable rest zones, and the "student kitchen".

Day 3: Promoting Mental Health in Schools
The third day focused on the Latvian model "Promoting Mental Health in School", presented by Baiba Martinson. This approach emphasizes the importance of mental health for both students and teachers. The group also attended communication training sessions for undergraduates and crisis counselling sessions for master’s students, where the students demonstrated a high level of engagement and activity. The friendly smiles of Andra Gaitnese and Alla Plaude lifted everyone's spirits, despite the rainy weather.

Day 4: Curriculum Development and Collaboration
The fourth day was dedicated to the development of curriculum programs for undergraduates, master’s students, and doctoral candidates. In small groups, under the guidance of mentors – directors of the educational programs at the University of Latvia – the scholars actively worked on shaping plans and materials. The team from Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University divided responsibilities: Prof. Zoya Miroshnyk was in charge of the module for doctoral students, one participant coordinated the master’s course, and Assoc. Prof. Olena Shestopalova provided educational and methodological support for undergraduates.

Day 5: Visit Conclusions
The final day was devoted to familiarizing the group with the practical aspects of student training, modular learning systems, and assessment methods. The visit concluded with a final reflection and a certificate awarding ceremony. While the report is still to come, numerous ideas have already emerged for implementation in Ukraine.

This visit proved to be an invaluable experience, opening new perspectives for international collaboration and the development of higher education and psychological support in Ukraine.
